In 2017, the Shengzhou Yue Opera troupe, the hometown of Yue Opera, was supported by a grant from China National Arts Fund for cultural communication and promotion. The troupe plan to spend two years traveling around China, disseminating Yue Opera and investigating its current situation. The documentary then takes the journey of the troupe as longitude, while takes the experience from specific groups of people in the troupe (the head, leading actor, supporting actor, staff behind the scenes and the audience). It is divided into four episodes including “The Head Shunquan”, “I’m Not the Leading Role”, “Behind the Scene” and “Coming for Yue”. Amidst the entanglement of “city, stage and role” in an extensive time-scale and a large space, the group image of “inheritors of Yue Opera” within the background of the new era is revealed in a panoramic view during the observation of the space-time dimension of Yue Opera.
