Introduction:

No. 31 on Gushan Road is a full-length documentary that takes Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society as the theme co-produced by the Administrative Affairs Committee of Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society and Zhejiang Satellite TV, etc. Using the new logo of “西泠不冷”(literally means Xiling is not cold, which implies the spirit of Xiling never goes down), the documentary pays a tribute to Xiling Seal Engraver’s Society’s foundation for 115 years, as well as the persistence and guarding that its members had been doing for culture, and faith. Not merely does this documentary tell a legendary history spanning over 100 years, but also the unique persisting in faith and cultural confidence of “People of Xiling”during the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China which is a period of "the Eastward Transmission of Western Sciences", as well the excellent spirit of insisting on traditional culture and its value of the new era. Besides being praised as “telling a Chinese story under the Chinese aesthetic idea”by people of the same occupation, this documentary is experimental in the image and full of tension for its innovative narration.
